Foods that help supress appetite or fill you up...?

Almost every time I go through the local Goodwill store, they have at least one or two of those old air-poppers that were popular in the early to mid-80s. Get one of those for about $5, and a jar of popcorn, then eat it plain. You don't even have to add oil to get it to pop like if you did it on the stove.

 

Grapefruit should be monitored according to your meds. Some beta blockers do not do well with grapefruit. Be careful.

Grapefruit also cuts the effectiveness of Prograf, which most transplant recipients on here are on, so everyone be careful!

If I remember correctly with Prograf, (which I was on until very recently) it also can have toxic affects when mixed with grapefruit. That was the reason I stayed away from it completely. 
Also, I dont know if your on Prednisone, but it also is a HUGE appetite increaser. I think I gained... 50 pounds after my transplant and am only now back down to my weight from before... 6 years after the trans surgery.

Yes your memory serves you correctly.
You can have grapefruit with prograf, but you have to do it in a certain time frame before or after pills. I love grapefruit juice in the morning, but in order to have it, scheduling it around Prograf just makes it not worth it.

I love sugar snaps and if you're not a salt-restricted person, they're great dipped in fat-free ranch dressing.

I can only think of foods I would not eat rather than ones that fill me up. However those same foods I like can also suppress my appetite. Seems I'm the odd one, only one after having a transplant loose their appetite. When eating can get nauseous and even sick for trying to eat. Docs not helpful on it either. I miss my appetite, but saves money, must be a ying and yang effect.

That is true Carol.  We are supposed to eat the horrid, processed to death white stuff that passes for bread.  Remember that some people here have transplants or are caregivers so, luckily for them, they don't have to restrict the stuff we do.

You are absolutely correct, Carol.
But Angela has a transplant, and she is trying not to gain weight.
