I had the opportunity to attend an event tonight at which many young renal patients were present.  Many of these kids were primary Spanish speakers and some could speak nothing else.  Where does someone who is new to the country, can't speak the language, but stuck on dialysis go?  Could it be time for an IHD en espanol to address the needs of that patient population?  Its a large one.  Just something to think about, maybe it could be started with a section or two.

Not sure how to go about that, but I think when you register as a member you can pick your language. I'd have to run that by RossMAN.

A section or two in Spanish...this is a good idea. I am only guessing, but with the number of members IHD has there must be a significant number who can speak and understand Spanish. I am aware of two - are there more?

When Otto's family came in 1980 his Dad was the only one who could speak english (he's a US citizen) everyone else spoke spanish and everyone called Otto- auto and he thought that was how you said HI. I think adding a spanish section would be a good Idea.

Not sure if it will take care of the problem but there is a program called babel fish (yes as in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy).  The program will translate the content of a website for you if it's built into the site.  You just select the language you want and go from there.  You can find the info for it to add to the site at www.altavista.com/help/free/free_searchbox_transl .  It's free to use and seems to work rather well.
