Today's show is about the young man who was the mascot for UNC-Chapel Hill, NC (where I am listed) who was killed in an accident and donated his organs. She is going to interview his family and talk about where the organs go and how many people are given the gift of life.    This was a big story here, but I am glad it is on a national program and hopefully it will touch just one person and help them decide to donate.     Also, Cojo was on Rachel Ray's show Monday and it was even more informative than Dr. Phil's show.  I don't care who it is or why they are on the shows, but I am so glad for any awareness that can be done. :thumbup;

There seems to be a lot of media attention around donation right now. Not sure why but glad it is there. On the news a couple of days ago, there was a guy, who I think was from Texas, who posted a billboard saying he needed a kidney. A guy from Minnisota (???) volunteered and even paid for his own airfare and other incidental expenses (which, as you all know, can be a lot of money). He said it just seemed like the right thing to do.

What a great story and what great people we have here.

I just watched the segment on Oprah. It was excellent and gave great facts.  It is good to see faces of donors, recipients and families.  Dr. Oz made a point of explaining that while the show was airing, another person died waiting for an organ.  I must say, it made me teary eyed listening to the families.  It was a good show. :thumbup;

I watched this show and thought they did a good job also. I do not like it when the media tells the story and then does not spend enough time driving home the point, donate! Although I do not usually watch her Oprah did a good job in driving home that point with her friend doctor Oz. I liked the fact that doctor Oz made a point to say "discuss it with your loved ones"; not just "sign your donor card". :clap;

I felt bad for the poor guy with the cane though he looked like he was going to collapse! Every time they came back from commercial I was hoping he would be sitting on a stool.

Altogether good job :thumbup;

I missed the Oprah show since I typically don't watch it and didn't catch that they'd be talking about this topic.  My thought is that because March is I believe National Kidney Month, and March 13 is World Kidney Day, that may be why there's more attention being paid right now to kidney donation, etc.  I'm the first in my family to experience ESRD, dialysis, and hopefully a transplant, and have a lot of learning to do.  Let's hope the talk continues!

Not only is March National Kidney Month (I had never heard that, but cool!), but April is also Donor Appreciation Month.

I missed the show since I also never watch Oprah and didn't know they'd be talking about this, but I'm glad to hear they did such a good job with it. Maybe none of the people on IHD got contacted, but maybe she was actually reading all the letters y'all sent, anyway.  :clap;

I watched the show and thought it was pretty touching.  To see how one person can help so many others brought a few tears to my eyes, that's for sure.
