Hi, my name is Derrick Kess I am 44 years old, have been on dialysis for twelve years. Live everyday to the fulliest. I am a published poet. Go to poetry.com and where it say's to enter poet's name enter Derrick Kess. I won a award for my poem LIVE LIFE BIG and I hope it can put a smile on your face or make you feel better. I ride my mountain bike everyday, I ride around twenty miles a day. I believe exercise is big part of living with dialysis. And it doesn,t mean riding a bike, but taking a walk or visiting a neighbor. I am designing a t-shirt with the  LIVE LIFE BIG logo. HAVE A GREAT DAY

Derrick:

I rated your poem's , My favorite would be "What I left Behind"

It is very moving,  I hope that I rated them right it almost seemed that after I rated them it was the wrong poem.

Thank You for sharing Derrick

World's Best Beach..Lanikai..Oahu, Hawaii

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and the women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. He begins as a baby,
Fresh into life, born soft and vulnerable
In his mother’s arms, ocean blue eyes
Filled with wonder at the world. Then he is a child,
Clinging to mother on a first school day like
Tree roots in earth, but growing swift until
His hand slips from his mother’s,
And he is on his way. From the child
He grows to adolescence, and suddenly
He Is an invincible God, capable of
Whatever he wishes and doing just that.
But then the adolescent matures and
Is a young adult, on his own with
Shining light as his future, ready to
Take on the world, and with
Love in his heart for the first time.
The ages change and no longer is he
Alone, bound to a wife by marriage
And by love, with children in his lap and
In his home, and no longer is he the focus
Of his own life. Time progresses and
He grows locks of silver, then white, and
His children have their own, running around
Yards of their own, far and near,
But he is content with his life. And then it
Is the last of all ages, and there he lies
Sick in body and mind, not a thought
In his head or a memory to be
Recalled in his heart. Then his eyes
Close, as he fades into dark, slipped
Away into his death.

Hey!  that poem is a rip-off from Shakespeare!  At least there should be some attribution to show that it is a modernization of Shakespeare's poem in the language of the 16th - 17th centuries.

Duh...the first few lines were Shakespeare's, the rest were written by a kid as a school assignment.

WOW!  That was very well done, and captured the spirit of Shakespeare's piece.  I love it.

My favorite thing to do during dialysis is to listen to Joyce Myers, I love her, it always seems that whatever she is talking about that day is just what I needed to hear.  I am looking into going stateside to her her speak.
