What is your opinion?

Should they check your creatinine when you are getting basic blood work done so that earlier detection is possible?

George Lopez, who recently had a transplant, donated by his wife Diane, is now lobbying to have creatinine test as a standard part of basic blood work.  Do you agree or disagree with this, and why?

With 20 million Americans possibly at risk, I think this would be a fantastic idea.  I know that I had blood work done several times over the years and no one ever mentioned anything to me about my creatinine level.  If this had been checked could there been earlier intervention done?

If you get a full blood count, which is the general test, it tests for creatinine level. All my bloods include an FBC.

Yeah I was always under the impression that with an FBC they check creatinine...

But yeah I agree it should be a regular thing, but I guess some people have the attitude "what I don't know can't hurt me".

Whoops, meant to say E/LFT not FBC. FBC does Hb and all that as well.

That would be a great idea.  It would certainly have helped me.
