Daughters' Craig's List Ad Asks For Kidney For Dad

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- "Please help me find a kidney for my Dad."

That's what an advertisement on Craig's List says after a family turned to the Web site, hoping for an organ match for their father.

The family said 67-year-old Daniel Flood, of Pleasantville, can't wait five years for a the transplant.

Flood has O-negative blood, so only a donor with O-negative or O-positive would be a match.

His three daughters have their phone numbers and e-mail addresses in the ad.

Flood is on the five-year waiting list for a new kidney.

Heather Flood, 31, said she turns to Craig's list for everything, so it made sense to try to find a kidney donor via the Web site. She said so far, in two months, they've gotten some responses, but no O-negative matches yet.

Using the Internet is a sign of the times, said 28-year-old daughter Jennifer, who has used Craig's List to sell furniture and find child care.

Her dad said he didn't even know what Craig's list was before all the advertisement.

He said their effort shows how much his daughters love him.

"No matter which way this goes, at least I know my family is behind me," he said.

See, that is what confuses me,  if someone steps up, they are strangers and they go through all the interrogations of why? how do you know the patient? blah blah blah, so can they or can they not get a perfect stranger to donate?  and if so, why do they question them so much about it??

Otto is also on craigslist and our center knows it. We have had tons of people call but some are excluded in 1st phone call but we have had several tested.

I thik every center has different rules. Know what kind of donors your center will accept before you begin a public appeal or your could be disappointed.
