Youth says his kidney was removed on pretext of blood transfusion

On the pretext of getting blood transfusion for his wife, a Navsari-based stock broker got the kidney of a Bhavnagar youth removed at a Chennai hospital. The kidney was later used in the body of the accused's wife.

A case of fraud and criminal conspiracy has been registered against the stock broker by Bhavnagar police. The case is now under investigation.

Dharmendra Singh Gohil (24), a resident of Pachhi village in Bhavnagar district, told the Bhavnagar SP Harikrishan Patel that stock broker Hitesh Parekh, on the pretext of asking him to donate blood, got his kidney removed for a kidney transplant for his wife, Sonal.

According to details, Dharmendra had reportedly fled from his Bhavnagar home a year back and met Hitesh Parekh at Santram temple at Nadiad.

After the two became close, Hitesh promised a job to Dharmendra at a salary of Rs 5,000 a month. A few days later, Hitesh requested Dharmendra to help him in the treatment of his wife who was suffering from kidney malfunctioning.

Hitesh asked Dharmendra for a blood transfusion at Chennai's St Thomas Hospital where his wife had been admitted. "He has alleged in his complaint that during the transfusion, his kidney was removed without his knowledge," said Navsari Town Police Inspector B D Vaishnav.

After returning from Chennai, Dharmendra suffered from stomach pain and when he consulted a physician in Bhavnaga, he came to know that one of his kidneys had been removed, police informed.

"We have not yet arrested the accused as we first need to interrogate the complainant as to why he had lodged the complaint so late even though such surgeries leave distinct stitch marks on the victims's stomach," Vaishnav further .
