A Toronto Zamboni driver for the Toronto Marlins, David Ayres, who is a Kidney transplant recipient, and backup goalie was called up to play for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Toronto Maple Leaf's and helped the NC team beat the Canadian team. This is such a brilliant story!  I'd read a few headlines about it, but I didn't know that he'd had a kidney transplant, so thanks for posting these links, iolaire!  The transplant slant to the story makes it even more special.
