Air?

Hi all,
Today when i came home my cath clamp opened a tad because i was changing my shirt. I noticed it because my chest...wow it felt very uncomfortable and I was very short of breath. I couldn't stand it so I quickly went to lay down and ended up sleeping. I was scared because I never felt this bad before. Should I be worried? Anyone know how to release this air, i am much better but still feel uncomfortable

Jeeez Aisha, I really can’t help you with experiences, but I would go to the dr/hosp. Sounds scary.

By Cath Clamp are you meaning the PD Connector?  And that air entered the lilne into your abdomen?

If this happened besides the possibility oof a bacterial infection your will soon begin to experience pain in your shoulders.

On PD when we fail to prime the hoses adequatly and introduce air inside of us the air rises within the abdomen, collecting up against the underside of the diaphram.  Somehow the body percieves this as pain in the shoulders, and it takes DAYS for the body to absorb this air and breath it off.  The blood stream will eventually absorb the air, and cast it off out of the lungs breathing.

But it is painful during.

The greater risk is that if bacterial infection.

Watch your drain bags very closely for any cloudiness which indicates infection and the need for IMMEDIATE antibiotic treatments.

Not on pd anymore. Was on it for a good years and I ahve experienced air and wow I hope nobody ever feels that pain. The pain doesnt go away until after a few days.
I am on hemo. I feel better today so I guess im good
