A public health consultant who lives in Atlanta, Martinez was aware of the HIV Organ Policy Equity Act when it was enacted in 2013. The next year, she saw an episode of the television show “Grey’s Anatomy” in which the writers invented a story about a transplant from a live HIV-positive donor. She eventually contacted Segev and volunteered for the grueling regimen of tests that led her to
become the first person in the Hopkins clinical trial.
I hear people bashing Grey’s Anatomy but this is a good outcome from a made up medical story on TV...

July 2017 from out of state deceased donor, waited three weeks the creatine to fall into expected range, dialysis December 2013 - July 2017.
