Good story. Given how long non-medical technology takes to develop I worry that it will be much longer than people think for this technology to reach people.

Around the death of Steve Jobs it really hit me how long Apple had been working on the core technology’s that we enjoy today in our iPhones.  Things like handwriting recognition were researched for years and in the end voice recognition has really become what people wanted handwriting recognition to be. I’ve had voice technologies on Mac Computers since the 1990’s and it is only in the past few years that both the recognition and the software finally reached a point where a large number of people actually use it.
