Alkaline Phosphatase question

Hi all, just a question.
In May I suddenly had a stomach bleed. A gastroscopy showed ulcers in oesophagus, duodenum, stomach. Medication of course Omeprazol. Next bloods show increase of Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) and is now (6 months later) ridiculously high at 280.
According to The Learned Person it is my liver, let's schedule some more tests. When I overlay the graph of ALP on Bicarb I see bicarb going down madly as ALP goes up madly. So I'll see for a month if my ALP drops, when I increase my bicarb. No intension of undergoing any tests at the minute.


Anyone else have had a completely weird ALP?

Blood results back after one month doubling sodium bicarb. Bicarb back to 30, Alkaline Phosphate dropped 2 points. Fair enough it's not much    but the first time in 6 months that it hasn't risen like beer on a hot stove!!!!


So before being completely ecstatic, I'm just being slightly elated

I thought that some stomach ulcers had been determined to be an infection of that spot inside the stomach and that many of these can successfully be cured with antibiotic treatment.

Hi Charlie I am confused. The ulcers have been cured with Omeprazole from hosp (proton pump inhibitors so that my stomach produces less acid which irritates the ulcers and oesophagus etc) and Kuzu (a starch from a common plant root which cures a lot incl oesophagus) which my naturopath friend advised me to use.
 
Alkaline Phosphat(as)e is some enzyme which they check in your blood monthly (uk) because apparently it could indicate something with your liver or your bones. I have yet to find a nurse who can explain this. Or a dr who doesn't want to do livertests or something.


The normal value is (uk) between 40-125 and mine was over 300.


The stomach ulcers you mean are caused by a helicobacter bacterum which can be cured by antibiotics.


Mine are not, 'they' don't know. I guess meds like Cinacalcet etc, low fluid intake for a long time, chronic stress by being 'a bit unwell' and OGK (only god knows) what having 0 kidneys does to your body for 22 years.
'They' don't know either.
