Stopped Taking binders; Pee again

Anyone here ever stop taking their binders and start to urinate again? I am taking Velphoro. I ran out over the weekend and I urinate again. I think I'm being lied to, Velphoro was also causing me small rashes on my skin and now they are fading away as I stopped taking them. hmmm

Hello edger1,
I have been on (hemo) dialysis for a while (~34 months) & I have never been told by any medic to take binders & have never taken any.
My diet is very simple & I only eat my vegetarian food in small portions & adhere strictly to liquid-restrictions.
My kidneys still "produce" a little & I am very glad about it.

3 1/2 years on PD with residual function making less than a liter a day.

Almost 11 months on Hemo still have my residual function at about a liter a day.

Since starting hemo I've had to also start taking massive amounts of binders plus severely restrict  potassium and phosphorus and most importantly, fluids, from my diet.   I am rarely much more than a liter over my dry weight.  I suspect keeping my fluids well controlled may help retain this residual function much much longer.  I also suspect this residual function is making my labs stay within reasonable measures.

I have never heard of that, edger!  How odd!  Sounds like you might have an allergy to the medicine with the skin rash... I would definitely ask about switching binders!

I gather your Dr has to report your side effects, and you could very well be allergic to Velphoro. Ask for an other.
