My mom is a very active person but dialysis makes her very exhausted. She never likes to sit idle and whenever she is able, she tries to keep herself active by doing work that she is capable of doing like gardening, cooking, etc., Doesn't matter if it is a dialysis or non-dialysis day, whenever she is active even for a couple of hours, her Blood Pressure skyrockets usually Systolic 190-200, and never comes down. We had to give her Hydralazine when that happens, and the BP calms down to around 160 systolic after 4 hours or so. The doctors have no idea what is going on. Again, if she is never active, the BP is normal and everything is good. This makes us very worried and we are asking her not to do anything. Please help! I am very worried!

My BP's used to be that high before I started taking BP meds.  Ended up taking a combination of three before my numbers began coming down.   That was a lot of years ago and I don't remember the names right now.  All my BP meds got changed when I had my by-pass. Which jacked my BP's way up again and again needed a different combination.

Her Dr will get this figured out, I hope he does it quicker than it took them for me.  Those high pressures contributed to my kidney failure.

You may want to consider teaching Mom a couple of simple meditation-relaxation techniques.  They do make a difference.  Surprisingly the simple act of petting a cat or small dog also has a measureable effect in lowering BP's.  It is a very relaxing thing for many besides the cat.

atenanol, or something like that was one of my old BP meds.  Clonidine patch another, it doesn't reduce pressures a lot but it is also used for anxiety.   Which could possibly be a contributing factor.   Getting her mind relaxed may reduced the adrenalin surge driving her pressures so high.      Need a blood draw during a high pressure time to check for adrenalin.  Maybe.

Jo You are right to be concerned and your mom is very lucky to have you following up on her care so diligently!    Although I have no idea why her BP would increase after activities, my gut feeling tells me you should consult with a cardiologist or an internist to run some tests like an ecocardiogram, sonogram of the carotid arteries and whatever else he/she recommends.  Thats what I would do.
In the meantime, maybe she should take it easy.   Yogic breathing (Prana Yama) exercises do help.

Oh, how is her hemoglobin?  I get heart palps when doing activities if its low and I feel like my heart is struggling.  Below is link explaining the link between low HG and BP :

She is on Carvedilol and Lisinopril. Thanks for your suggestions.

That is a good suggestion. The doctors did some tests earlier and couldn't figure out anything. I have no idea what is going on! Thanks for your suggestions.
