Can I climb the highest mountain?

My family is talking about taking a tram from sea level to 10,000 feet above, on a mountain. They (the tram) talk about possible side effects from the altitude change. One of those listed was pulmonary edema. I was wondering if any of you travelers can tell me how concerned I should be about this? I just want to be sure I'm not poking a lion with a stick on this excursion! I have had flash pulmonary edema (before I started dialysis) and DO NOT want to revisit it again.

I have no experience with trams, but if you have had pulmonary problems in the past I would not go.

The person this question needs to be asked is you doctor, the doctor should know your condition and be able to judge your risks.
