I'm a member of another site that allows users to like posts.  I think that the like system is a great way to acknowledge someone content when you don't have anything to add to the conversation.  For example you might appreciate someone's experience as it relates to someone else's question, so you like the post to let that person know you appreciate their contribution.

In this screenshot the likes show up under the alerts area.

Also it looks like Simple Machines  also has the likes functionality via a few plugins like:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3708

What would be the process to discuss this type of change and, if it interests the group, implement it?

Also this has no relationship to Facebook, the likes are internal to the forum.

Great idea and thought.
Would be a great addition to IHD.   :thumbup;

It is on the list.  People have such small devices anymore it is hard to type an introduction but if we had a "Like" or "Hello" button they would feel more welcomed than 245 views and no replies.   :'(

If you have a minute go welcome some new members in the intro section.         :thx;

I'm looking at what is called 'mobile friendly' for my blog.     :bow;
Not sure yet where it all winds up.  :banghead;
But is a 'some thing' that will eventually need to added here on IHD.   :yahoo;
So a 'like' button ' would be a dandy starting point.   :thumbup;

Did add a plugin to make my blog and Google's  searches 'mobile friendly' .   :bow;

Would appreciate any that visit it with a mobile device, to give me some feedback, on what was experienced with the device, look wise.
Thank you

So far am able to find a few reasons to not like this new plugin.
If 'IHD', were to follow suit, and install a 'mobile friendly' plugin, it could make using the forum difficult.

Have found that I'm unable to view my blog in its original state.
Some of my blog features are not available, like,  Search, Contact, and About.
Not even able to sign in as a an administrator to my own blog, to do updating.

Will need to enter my control panel, to gain blog access, to see if there are ways to prevent what I don't like about this new 'mobile friendly' plugin.

On the brighter side though, Google says my blog 'look' is 'awesome' for mobile devices, even with the given that for a desktop, it is not the best view.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
----------------------------------------------------
Sheesh, not good at all. Removed that 'mobile friendly' plugin, until I see more of 'what' it can and cant do.
