Greetings!
I just turned 41 this weekend and for my birthday I'm getting dialysis!
I'm not sure if it's the best present I've ever receive or not, but I am grateful to have the option vs death.
4 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 CKD at 18% after an eventful trip to the hospital. My first attempt to get on the transplant list was met with a no and a suggestion to lose 100 lbs. I went back a year later and 140 lbs smaller only to be told no again because I don't have enough insurance. So I went to a different hospital, got listed, and here we are 5 months later.
I've chosen PD because I'm a pretty busy lady. I'm a wife, mom, a full time student in the healthcare field, Girl Scout leader, and a future grandma. I love my life.
I'm a little nervous about getting started, so I'm happy this forum exists.
Thanks for having me!
