Tried it for 14 days, turned stool JET BLACK,had severe cramps and diarrhea and phosphorus went up from 6 to 7.1.
This stuff costs over $1,000 for 90 tabs.
Back on 10 Renvela a day.

I have some patients trying it because it's suppose to be a lower pill burden (3 pills daily instead of 9-12). Also the patients with horrible constipation seemed to do a lot better on Velphoro. So far, no insurance issues - these are Medicare patients. What insurance do you have?

I tried it this summer and it didn't work for me. I used a single dose, 3X daily and later increased to two tablets per meal, 3X daily. My levels were high at all times. The black stools are due to the use of iron in the medication.
I switched back to Renvela & Tums this fall and my readings are back to normal.
