Health concerns for dialysis patients living close to highway

The question might be off topic, but still I am concerned about my mom's health and decided to post it in the general discussion forum. As some of you might already know, my mom is on dialysis. We live in an apartment right now and I am trying to find her a better place where she would feel more comfortable and relaxed. I found a house for rent that matches our budget and needs, but I believe it is less than 650 feet to the I-80. The house faces the street where there are a row of houses on both sides of the street, and the freeway runs along the back of the houses on the other side. So, the houses on the other side of the street act as a buffer in eliminating the freeway noise a little bit.

Is it safe for my mom to live there as I know that dialysis patients are more prone to infections easily. And, does living that close to the freeway cause any health problems? Thanks for reading this and I am looking forward to hear your suggestions about this.

I dont see a problem. The issue of infections is more about bacteria on the skin as it can enter the body easily in dialysis throught the constant opening of the blood system for access. There will be more air pollutants there but probably not much more then any city.
A house might feel better for her and her mental health is important too. I lived in a small huse off I-80 in DesMoines Iowa while in med school and had no problems. I liked it .

@obsidianom Thanks. I read a few articles online that living close to the freeway would cause respiratory problems because of vehicles running in the freeways all the time. In that aspect, I was thinking if that would affect her. So you are saying it should be fine?

No, she doesn't as of now. But, I am concerned if living close to the freeway would cause any problems in the future. I would like to know that as well. Thanks.

Just my two cents worth; distance of nearest EMS and Fire Dept in case of emergency.
