There were two interesting cases that I came across.

One dialysis nurse at the center I used to go said her GFR was at 60% and she was able to live free from dialysis for 20 years( she was normal at the time I left that unit).

At the same unit there was a patient who told me his kidney failed so he went on dialysis for two years. Suddenly his kidneys restarted back to normal and he was free from dialysis for the next 3 years.

 Of course after that he had to go back on dialysis.
