I suffer from really painful legs to the point that I hobble like someone twenty years older. I believe that it is muscular more than anything. Yesterday, I went for a deep tissue massage and what was particularly noticeable to the therapist, is how tight the muscles in my legs are, and a lot of my pain seems to originate from tight I-T bands down the outside of my legs. I also suffer from bad cramp even walking a short distance, e.g. from parking lot to store. I am currently having vascular studies done, but they do not think that the cramp is caused by this. Do other people suffer with this problem? Do you know the cause and how do you deal with it? I have been on Dialysis for about twelve years following a failed transplant, and I wonder if it is caused by dialysis-induced amyloidosis? I am fifty years old and scared that I am going to end up in a wheelchair.

Dear Amanda what is your Bicarb level? It should be between 22 and 26, but if mine is below 25 I'm in cramps, and pain too.
(BTW I think it's caused belong term use prednisone when we had the transplant)

amanda100wilson, My husband has been on apd for nearly 5 years and he has trouble with his legs. Restless and other wise.He says that they dont feel like they belong to him, they dont seem to hold him up. He has gone through vascular clinics and had alsorts of wonderful things done to him. Scans, needles in his muscles and apparently it has to do with the electrics from his brain, basically he is shorting out , are you following me. The electrics are not getting to his lower legs. He also suffers with narrow veins in his legs. They offered him sterroids to see if this would help, but he declined, says he takes enough tablets. He can not walk very far at all, he now has to use a mobility scooter and we use a wheel chair when we have a hospital visit. His age is against him as well he is 73. I do believe it is to do with renal function. I hope you find a solution to this,
