You need to go to Davita for dialysis.
they will not have info for those going to Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) or independent centers.
Sorry
I was being a SNOT this morning.

The davita website does have useful information and forums like this one that you can sign up for even if you don't go to a davita clinic. However in order to see your lab results online through this website, you have to be a davita patient. Be aware that the only labs you get through this website are the basic labs and if you want the full lab report you still have to get it from your nurse or neph,

I go to FMC but did sign up for the Newsletters from Davita...which are far better than those from FMC. Anyone can sign up as they are really good to read.

Hello babycake,
There are basically two issues regarding cats that we are warned about;
1. Some cats like to chase and bite the patient line like they would with a toy. That could cause an infection.
2. There is fear that dogs and cats are unclean and the hair and dander could cause an infection.
Like most cat lovers, there is no way I was going to get rid of my cats. I am on PD Baxter cycler which is kept in a small room next to the family room. I have moved my bed into the family room along with my chest of drawers, desk, computer and file cabinets. Two cats and dog are allowed in the family room, but they are not allowed into the small room where the cycler is. I connect in the small room.
The two cats are about 15 years old and even though they still like to play a little they only sniffed the patient line once and have continued to ignore it ever since. The third cat is about 3 years old and loves to play. I know if she were in the family room she would attack the patient line and I keep her out of the family room.
Someone on IHD said they purchased 20 feet of 1/2 plastic tubing from home depot and covered the patient line. That way if the cat does attack the patient line they would not puncture it. It is extra work each time you setup, but worth it if you have cats that will attack the patient line.
I do clean frequently to remove the hair, dander and dust.
I did a search for cats on IHD. There are several cat threads, but the one below had the most information about pets and pd.

The concern has to do with cat diseases. There are some diseases that cats have and humans don't usually catch. If your immune system is low because of your kidney problems, you might (it's rare but possible) catch one of those diseases. The most common example is toxoplasmosis. The risk is highest when cleaning the litter box.
Many people on dialysis have pets without getting sick. If it really concerns you, talk to your doctor.

We have two cats, the main issue was the wifes pregancy so it was me to clean them lol (shes buys them i look after them)
My homeD machine lives in the bedroom, but we put the Water machine in the next room as it was the loudest, and plummed it through the wall. All profressionally done.
Generally speaking the cats are not allowed in either room as they do play with cables.
