A patient I know coded across from me in the dialysis center two weeks ago.  I am furious with the social worker.  She has not gotten back to me with any information. Another patient showed me his obituary.  I could have gone to his service if I had known when it was.

To Kirk: (In Memorium)

It has been almost two weeks,
I can finally, almost say my goodbyes.
We talked in center a few times.
We said hello and goodbye frequently.
You called me sweetheart a few times
The kindness in you shined.
I gave you a ride home one morning
when you would have been stuck
in the center waiting.
We shared stories.
You had to quit working
I still work.
You envied me.
We agreed when it was cold in center.
You would complain about the temperature
I would back you up.
I would say something
You would back me up.
My partner in trying not to freeze
On a nightly basis.
No one backs me up anymore
when I say it is cold.
I think the director thought
we were pains in the ass
when we complained at him.
I know the last few months were rugged on you.
Dialysis is a slow life.
Day in and day out
in center treatments.
You were always there when I was.
I heard your groan.
Middle of the night.
It was a Friday/Saturday treatment.
They tried to revive you.
They hollered your name.
They did CPR.
But, alas you were gone.
Paramedics took you away.
I never saw you again.
No information,
except you had passed
was given.
I had no information
about services or wishes.
I wanted to much to send flowers
or condolences or something.
I miss you dialysis nights.
Someone took over your bed
by Monday night.
Made me sad
to know you are gone
forever.
God speed your soul.
At last no more dialysis.

kitkatz, so sorry for the loss of your friend.

Your thoughts are great.  Don't know if you have a way to get them to his family, but I bet it would be appreciated.

Bless.

Lovely tribute, Kitz...

Can't believe that they didn't inform you of the funeral arrangements....

I'm so sorry you lost your friend. It was so messed up that did not tell you when his service was. Your tribute to Kirk was very lovely.

take care.

the techs are not allowed to give any info
about a client
if they had past
or even if there in the hospitol

there was a patient that resently died
and how did i find out
was from a friend of mine who is also a patient
and she aparently got that info from a tech
that patiient her husband had died just a week before
and it seem as though she knew
for she was getting weak and was in a wheel chair
a few times the last time i saw her
as i saw her on a fri and feb 4th
she died

We had a long time patient die and they posted a memorial.  Plus about 3 techs told me.  They were just being insensitive Kit.  You need to put that poem in her box.  Bioch!

So, we will be replaced the next shift.  I guess L$$$ goes on.

I'm not sure about there, but here, they're not supposed to tell us.  Sometimes they will, if they know that you were close to that patient.  The only time I knew that a patient died was when the family let the unit know when services would be

I asked the social worker directly if I could sed flowers and have information about services.  She said she would check for me. Not a word so far.

Just another patient to them. Do they honestly think that all those hours spent near each other doesn't produce friendships? It's a compassion only those with this experience will understand. Sorry for your loss Kit.
