Hi dublin here i hope this goes in the right zone . Please could anyone tell me if their hand is cold all the time the hand on the fistula side, also does anyone wake up with pains in their hands a real sharp pain , i have it now four weeks and counting i have to get out of bed the pain is that bad . I go about 10pm to bed and are up at 1.30 sitting on the side of the bed , then up at 3ish same thing then up at 5 am same thing then i stay up and get ready for dialysis pick up at 6.30 . I have seen the vascular people who done my fistula last july , i told them i am very tired as to being up early the last few weeks with pains in the hands and their answer was to make me a hospital date for 6 weeks time, sothats it i will be in pain for 9 wks give or take a day here and there thats if i dont fall asleep while crossing the road . I steep my hands in warm water for a while and the pain goes away for a while thanks for all answers.

It definitely sounds like a fistulagram is I order. I am surprised however they are making you wait.
I had some pain start right in my fistula Monday. Saw my nurse for a regularly scheduled visit Tuesday and had an ultrasound today. They should understand the importance and be equipped to get you in quickly.
I would call back and ask them to get you in ASAP. A simple doppler can tell them a lot about what might be going on.

You don't want to dehydrate so be careful. You should be taking in soewhere in the vicinity of 1L even iwth minimal urine output.
What are your Dr's doing about the fluid overload? Do you have any other symptoms?

Ask your Neph or the vascular surgeon if it's "Steal Syndrome" That is what I have and it's caused by the fistula working really well and taking blood from your hand. It's "Stealing blood" from your hand. My fingers on that hand get icy cold, they go numb a lot and sometimes one joint in my knuckle hurts a lot. I use a motorcycle glove on that hand that is battery heated. It really helps.
