Fresenius Newton IQ dialyzer and cruises.

So I've been Googling around to try and find an answer to this one, and not able to find a SOLID answer yet.  Has anyone here, WHO IS USING THE FRESENIUS NEWTON IQ machine taken their machine on a cruise ship? If so, tell me your experiences please.

Does the machine work okay? Since it works on gravity, does it work properly on the ship?

Cath-hater, I thought the Newton IQ was no longer around.  John used it and it worked perfect for us.  Had to replace the pump a couple times cause it wore out. But other than that, no probs!

I think because its not used as much, is why maybe some have not responded. But we never went on cruise's with our Newton. As I recall,  your bags must be above the machine for the Fills (Gravity) & the pump will do the drains (no Gravity required).  All you should need is a place to drain (long line to toilet) and electricity.  Just set it up like you normally would.  Could you not do CAPD while on this trip?  Seems that would be easier as far as lugging that machine, but you will have to do it through out the day.  Na, quess cycler at night WOULD be the better option.

They have soooo many fandagled machines now, that are probably easier & more mobile, but I dont like change
especially if it aint "broke".

Yeah. I'm an old school guy. I've been using the Newton for 10 years now. Never swapped over to Baxter or even upgraded to the Liberty, which is Fresenius's latest model, but they still support the Newton.  If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Thanks for the reply. I've only found info about people successfully bringing their machines on cruises, but they are with Baxter or are using the new Liberty cycler.  The Newton works on "gravity" during drains and fills.  I'm not sure how it would respond to the boat's movements.  I'd hate to get all on board, and then find out I can't dialyze properly.  And the thought of doing manuals just sucks !  I do 7 exchanges.  So I would basically be running back to my stateroom every 2 hours or so to do an exchange during the day. That would just totally suck ! Would not be able to enjoy my cruise that way.

I know I could call Fresenius and ask them, but I would rather get a "from my personal experience" answer from a board member here.  I trust the members here more than I do a Fresenius rep.
