It's all me.

« on: December 26, 2012, 11:29:26 PM »

Have left me feeling VERY washed out. To the point where I can't even sit up for too long. The next day I am fine. I hate this!! Right now I am tingling all over and anxious. I have just taken some Tylenol and Benadryl in hopes to calm down a bit. When I got home I went to sleep for 2 hours.
My doctor came in tonight and I told him of last Sunday and my BP. It was low and my pulse would go sky high. Tonight same thing 91/58 P124, 88/56 P122, 98/64 P118...........finally they let me go. During treatment around the 3rd hour I get hot, can't focus my eyes quickly and a headache comes on. The headache comes and goes but the rest stay.
It's just crazy. :stressed;

Sounds like your dry weight is set way too low.  Have you put on weight recently and they are trying to suck too much out of you.  When your bp drops, your pulse rate will go up.  It is a compensatory measure to keep blood going to your brain and other organs.  The two go hand in hand.  It's a no brainier that you need to adjust your dry weight so I am kinda surprised that neither your doctor or dialysis nurses have done this.

We ran into the same problem at home. Although for us, it wasn't exactly that his dry weight was too low.

It was that we were pulling a little too much, too fast, which can cause exactly the same symptoms. When HD pulls your fluid, it pulls it from your core. Your core then starts sucking from the rest of you... arms... legs. Sometimes, that just needs to be done more slowly for your body to keep up and not feel like a sad sack of dog crap. I think Amanda is right, and it's likely dry weight, but if you are in center, where time is limited, it could also be too much too fast.

Don't 'ask' your Neph/nurses. Tell them. Give them a new 'dry weight' and tell em that's how you want this to go for a week. You'll KNOW if it's working really soon. Just don't forget, 'they aren't the boss of you'. :)

WATER..........too much water being taken out.   I have the same issue.  If they only take out 1 liter or less, I leave tired.  But anything more and I am "washed" out for the day.  Can't do or attend anything and this happens 3 x's a week!  Now that I am off the transplant drugs and steroids, (due to transplant loss this past June) I am finally losing weight.  But they are not adjusting my dry weight again. Something about weighing in at the same number 3 x's in a row ?

It's not a joke, you'll have to tell them how much you are going to take off.

Take care Cas

Glad to hear that , Our weight goes up and down. A bit like a 'normal' person's really. So when you start feeling bad after D, put your weight up, when You feel overloaded You put it down   :boxing;

Good luck my darling, and all the best for 1213     :cheer:

Justjen321', you are so right.  Too fast does it too, because it puts the body out of equilibrium between cells and blood.  Anyway, glad to hear that O.P. managed to get the staff to sort it out.

I was running into the same problem on home hemo. Started adjusting the amount I pulled and I started feeling better. You know your body, don't let anyone else tell you how you should feel.

that happens to me sometimes and the nurse gives me some bs about my body not giving up the fluids.  I either crash or cramp.  When you start to feel hot and your head kinda gets a little dizzy feeling you need to call for help so they can lay you back and give you fluids fast.  If I can't see anyone near me I usually say loudly "I'm crashing" and they come running.  I've found if i have a gain they always assume it's water weight but I think often it has to do with food inside my gut that hasn't gone out the other end.  That can be a cause of weight gain on the scale but has nothing to do with fluids.
