Frank got his approval letter today for SSDI. It has only been one month since he applied. He wont actually get any money until March, because you have to be disabled for 5 months, but I was surprised how quick the approval was! One weight off our shoulders. Anyone else get approved this quickly?

Mine got approved about that fast too.  I had the paperwork sent in towards the end of my short-term disability through FMLA.  Congrats.

October 2004 started In-Center Hemo Dialysis Perma-Cath 5% Function.
September 2005 Living Related Donor (Mother) Transplant.
March 2009 Diagnosed CKD and IgA Nephropathy.
August 2009 Upper Left Arm Fistula.
November 2009 started In-Center Hemo Dialysis.
December 2010 started Home Hemo Dialysis.
January 2012 went back to In-Center Hemo Dialysis.

The minute the interview (phone) had ended, he was told it was approved. There was a waiting period of 5 to 6 months before first check was received.

It's pretty easy to get with ESRD - it's hard for them to argue that someone on life support shouldn't qualify!

I still didn't recieve my letter but I did get my medicare card and I applied in August!  mmmmm by the time I get my letter I will be getting my first check I hope sure is hard without any income!

I finally got my letter telling me that SSDI has been approved, and I will get my first check the end of January! :cheer:  I applied 6 months ago today...good thing I sold stock and had 6 months of savings in the bank...the next month is gonna be rough, but we'll make it somehow!
