Tha'ts horrible  and I don't know how they could be so careless with the dialysis machine and then instead of actually trying to find it they kick the family off.  I won't have let them kick me off so easily, I would have been I'm not leaving till you find my machine!!!

How did she do 'manual' dialysis at home if she didn't have her machine? PD? And if she was on PD, why couldn't she do manual exchanges on the ship until they found her machine? Something doesn't smell right.

I wondered that too, DD. How did she do the manual dialysis?

She must have been on PD and only had cycler bags with her and maybe not able to get manual bags from dialysis co. In time for departure. I can understand that.

I don't know anything about PD.  I've never travelled on dialysis very far, either.

Yes, I forgot there's a difference between the manual bags and the cycler bags. However, if you were on PD and going on a cruise, wouldn't you pack manual bags JUST IN CASE? I would.

No, generally speaking you would pack maybe one or two bags.

I would like to think I'd have a back up plan. I think if anything, I would have tried to really carry that dialysis machine on board with me instead. Just my two cents.       :)

when i travel my machine never leaves my sight, my hubby and i share one carry on bag and he takes my machine as his, andd i dnt give 2 shits when they tell me it is too large, it is going oin board with us one way or the other. period.
but i dnt understand why they were asked to leave to begin with... ppl travel with dialysis all the time there are cruises especially for dialysis patients, so why were the yasked to leave to begin with. and how did they lose their things?

Yep, when I was on PD, machine never left my sight when I travelled. Bleija, My nderstanding about why they were asked to leave was that the parents had stated that it would be a death if their daughter couldn't Do her dialysis.  This was not a dialysis cruise and she didn't have the means to dialyse without the machine because she would have had the wrong dialysis bags, ie cycler bags not manual bags.

While unfortunate, I do feel for the family, on the other hand I can understand why Carnival took that stance, if something - health wise - happened, they don't want to be held responsible for that person; once off the ship they are no longer carnival's responsibility (kinda cheap though if you ask me).

I've taken quite a few cruises while I was on manual PD (most of them with Carnival), and I never had any issues with my PD bags showing up in the cabin.  At times, it was already there, other times I had to wait for them to deliver it to the cabin, in any case, it did arrive.  Norwegian was good too, I never had a problem with Norwegian while I was on PD.
