I have lost so many people ive known on dialysis since i started 17 years ago, but ive never lost a good friend to it.  I met him when i started hemo at 12 and became fast friends.  He passed yesterday at the age of 27, he was never good with his fluid and his heart finally gave out...still kinda numb i guess...this is th poem that resulted tonight...

"Close the Door"
Fight the good fight year by weakened year,
Never fell to the dirt with eyes blurred,
Never dropped arms with life so severe,
Never left kindred soldiers unheard,
Fight the good fight year by weakened year.

The war is over; rest your weary head,
Drafted too young to know the price to play,
This game of fractured life with wounds fed,
No fault yours, you fought for each day,
The war is over; rest your weary head.

Close the door on the pain left in wake,
Breathe deep the cleansing air of new life,
No wondering how much you can take,
Spread your wings to new dawns holy fife,
And close the door on pain when you wake.

I'm so sorry, 27 was way too young. My thoughts are with you.  :grouphug;
