I missed treatment today and missed the phone call from the nurse this morning. I was woken up by the police banging on my door to see if I am alive. I miss one p*cking treatment and then they send a cop out to my door! I'm not sure if I should be mad or not but combined with all he other things going on with my treatment center and doctor I am very angry right now.

I personally would be so pleased that some one cared enough to go to these lengths. Not many people would do this.

Yes, but there are other issues....

Sounds like they are trying to be intimidating to me!

I think I would choose to believe that they were concerned about my welfare, but I don't know the "other issues". I sincerely hope that it wasn't a scare tactic. That would be horrible.

a year or so ago we received forms at my center for us to sign that stated that we understood that if we were not coming to dialysis and did not call to let them know they would try to call and if we did not respond they would send the police to make sure we were all right. the police could possibly damage our property breaking in to establish that we were ok. now in the last 6 years i have left many messages that were not delivered, i once was called in oregon, 3 weeks into a vacation, about bad weather in denver........... i don't have much faith that if i'm gone people at my center will even notice. when my dad passed away in august i left town without knowing when i'd be returning. as soon as i found out i called my center and told them. when i returned no one knew i was coming. if they send the police, i'm sending my lawyer! just sayin! they've collected emergency numbers for a reason and they had better make more than one attempt to use it.

I agree!  Most people could give a "flying flip" about those with Chronic illnesses!  Now I don't know about the "distruction" of property.  Its fine to check up out of genuine concern, but to tear things up, is a whole different ball game!
