Birthday at the clinic
«
on:
August 16, 2011, 08:39:12 AM »
I am unhappy to report that I am spending my birthday in dialysis and they are taking 4.5 off of me today so there will undoubtedly be cramping at the end and I shall undoubtedly feel like crap all day.
Just being pessimistic.

Oh good. Another pessimist. If they take off too much you deserve 2 pieces of cake.

lol, thanks for the smile. I'm usually not a downer but I just feel depressed today. I already feel isolated and lonely most of the time and somehow today being my birthday just makes me feel worse.

But you got safely to the clinic, in spite of the crappy transport? That's an improvement at least!

Better than a birthday in the ER or in the funeral home.
Seriously, though, maybe you can treat yourself to something nice for your special day.

Hopefully it's over by now and you're back home and resting. Or better yet enjoying some cake.

Whoot, I got loot!
Stage One (the Family):
A bread maker, surprisingly not used.
A Mandolin (yes the kitchen kind) with different blades.
A set of collapsible measuring cups.
A collapsible colander/strainer.
A double spoon (one end for stirring one for tasting).
A set of funnels with removable strainers.
A sandwich knife.
A big fruit juicer with a pouring cup bottom.
and finally a vegetable peeler that slides on to your finger.
The family all got me kitchen things because not only do I love to cook and I'm a mini-foodie but thanks to the renal diet I am always in the kitchen coming up with things I can eat. That's why next month is canning month!
Stage Two will be on Sunday with my friends. I doubt I will get anything kitchen related because my wife told them not to get me any kitchen gadgets as the family had that part covered.

Since you like cooking so much, I sure hope you are sharing your recipes over at the Recipe forum! I could use some ideas!

I'm working on a renal diet food blog but haven't gotten it up and going yet. I will share the recipes here as well when I get them to my liking.

I want to take pictures of the finished food for the posts. That's why I have not done anything yet.
