My mother had to have her teeth taken out and I think she has about two months minimum until she can get her new teeth...

I heard this is a common operation for kidney patients, so I'm asking what she might be able to eat until she gets her new teeth while still following her dialysis diet.

We had forgotten for awhile and she ate a lot of mashed potatoes because that's one of the few things we could think of, and it sent her potassium skyrocketing, so we would appreciate some help on the subject.

Thank you much for any help. :)

Applesauce, of course.

How about rice or some kind of mini pasta in sauce?

You can mash cauliflower and it has almost the same texture as mashed potatoes.

When my husband had his teeth removed and was awaiting dentures we found that if you could add enough liquid you can puree just about anything, the liquid was the hard part for him- he was so limited. scrambled eggs are easy to eat and boiled chicken with rice.

I hate to admit this and I know my mom would not like me to say this, but oh well, if she doesnt like me admitting this then she needs to take her good dental coverage and get some dentures. lol

But, my mom doesnt have any teeth, not a one! Well has been smoking for 40+ years. I know it sounds gross and it is an adjustment. But she can mostly eat anything, but steak and roast beef. There really isnt much that my mom cant gum. lol Either dont cook things as long, I mean cook them, but just long enough to make them soft, and cut things really, really tiny. There are also those protein shakes like ensure.

Hope this helps,
Lisa

The only things I can think of are baby food and protein shakes.

Thank you for the suggestions.
Mostly, since her mouth has been healing, Mom's been eating things like jello and soup. Now she's able to eat more solid things, but I just wanted to see if we could broaden the list because she's getting really frustrated.
She's drinking Ensure and we heard baby food was actually a good choice too.

lol I think the only thing that's still keeping her spirits up is I promised a dinner to Red Lobster (her favorite place) when she does finally get her teeth.
