Sometimes all you need to do is ask?
Bearing in mind i had recently moved into brand new house with brand new neighbours, both of them on either side of me came round when I got home and offered any help I needed. I was very touched

Gosh, you know...it actually never occurs to me to ask. Isn't that stupid?

KS I appreciate your beautiful commitment to your beloved furry family and how much they mean to you. I am torn between a wish to respect your decision for your life, and feelings of wanting to agree with the others trying to remind you that life IS worth living and that perhaps without the duress of dialysis and all that you may well find such a new lease on life you'd wonder what all the fuss was about. In the end though I guess all I can say from my perspective is that you know all of us here will support you whatever your decisions (though I will freely admit it makes me shed a tear to think that when the time comes for the dogs that will be it for you - that will be a loss for EVERYONE).

It does take courage to ask. to get past the fear that you will be turned down.
But I agree that people like to be needed. Carl has never liked to be "beholden" to others. I have to remind him again and again that we are part of a human family. And that others in our family want and even need to be helpful.
People might just amaze you, Kickstart. You have a larger family than the relatives you got stuck with!

Thanks everyone , i have thought about every scenario . My family appear to have turned their back on me. My neighbours , well they are not much better than in the other area i lived in. They are yobs , hoodies, drink a lot and generally make me miserable. I had a lot of trouble with them last summer and expect the same again this year. I guess ive just lost my lust for life , ive done 7 years of D , im tired now. I will never say never, because we dont know what is around the corner , but untill it comes up and hits me in the face, i dont plan to go on the list. As for getting a younger dog , i would have a houseful !! but its only more to worry about !
