Hello Guys,

Ok last Friday I had my fistula created and ever since then its been giving me a lot of pain. If I keep my arm still laid on a bed then its fine its just when I start to move about that it really hurts. At times there is a part of it that feels like its going to explode, that's when it hurts the most. The other thing is that I can feel the 'buzz' that the surgeon said would be there but not all the time. some times it really buzzes hard but most of the time I feel nothing. It does really buzz also when I get worse pain. I know its been only a week but the pain threshold has gone down somewhat but for the last few days it seem to have got stuck and isn't getting any better. I take paracetamol every few hours to keep the pain to a tolerable level but I can't keep doing  that.

Any one got any ideas if there is a problem or is this normal. Or is there a way to reduce the pain further?

Thanks for you advice.

Sorry to hear, If if bothers you that much you must have it checked out by the doc.

My fistula hurt for about 2 weeks and there after it was fairly ok. The buzzzz was sometimes faint  ,I think that is when it is deep. As it developes it should sound stronger.

Good luck

I would give it some time to heal and settle in.  If it is really hurting, of course, go back to the surgeon.  Mine was sore for a long time, too, but nothing was wrong.

And if the BUZZZZZ isn't there, then something is wrong.  You should have been told to "feel the thrill" everyday to make sure it is still BUZZZZZZing.

Where is your fistula?

In the wrist/lower arm, you should get little pain. However if it's in the upper arm, then you'll have a lot more to put up with. That's what I understand from speaking to patients at my clinic.
