with mine, the cuff was cut and pulled out. I saw it after it came out.  The doctor actually asked me if I wanted to keep the line.  I hope he was joking

On the first day at my new center, the nurse was going over all the standard things, and telling me what to do if my catheter gets pulled out. I asked him if it was at all probable that my catheter would be pulled out, since it tunnels at least 3 inches under my skin, then does almost a 180-degree turn into my jugular, and it feels pretty darn attached. He chuckled and said something to the effect of, "Well, no, but you never know."

I guess I can imagine it with the ones higher up toward the neck, though.

Hi RightSide,

My nephrologist's name is Dr. Dirk Hentschel at Brigham/Faulkner. He's absolutely wonderful. If you caught the first episode of Boston Medical on ABC this summer, he was in that - at Brigham.
