This Too Shall Pass

« on: April 12, 2010, 11:43:24 AM »

Please help.  When i go to the bathroom, my urine is red, it has been like this for a week.  When I eat too much or over exert myself, my uring turns red.  Does anyone else have this problem.  when i go to the doctor, they act as if it is no big deal.  Any one else experienced this with polycystic kidneys.  I feel fine except for a little pain.  I try not to eat foods that will give me gas, was told if you get gas in your stomach, it pushes up against the cysts and caused them to burst.  Please answer these questions or tell me your experience.

Debra I don't have PKD myself but I think that it's not uncommon for there to be blood in the urine when the cysts burst.  In fact it's listed as one of the symptoms of PKD.  I'm sure that others with PKD will share their experiences with you.

Debra,
I have PKD and this happens to me all the time.  Sometimes even a little what looks like plastic may also pass.  This is simply just part of a cyst.  I first bleed after getting a deep tissue massage and i really freaked out.  My Neph put my fears to rest and from that day on it happens and is just part of PKD.

Side note:
I recently started passing LOTS of blood and found out i was hemorrhaging from my kidney. Which dropped my HMG 3 pts in a month.

So a little is normal if it is alot and very red talk to your neph.
When it is a simple cyst bursting the red should only last a day or so and shouldn't be looking like pure blood.

This is the first time it looked like pure blood, was clearing up but started back.  I am going home tonight and just lay down.  Hopefully it will be okay tomorrow.  I hope that it stop soon, the worst I have seen yet.  I hope I am not bleeding a slow death.
