Logically Gatorade would be ok for kidney patients, as it was specifically invented to replace electrolytes lost during a football game; however, it may contain more potassium than you want. That's as far as my thinking takes me.

I often cut fruit juice with sparkling, carbonated water. Carbonated water has been a godsend for me. I perks up other drinks and dilutes potassium content. Frankly, straight fruit juice now tastes too strong for me...isn't that odd? I know you were looking for something other than water, but carbonated water doesn't count in my book! LOL! Steer clear of mineral water, though. That doesn't seem safe to me, but I could be wrong.
Oh, and I do like a good cuppa. PG Tips, please!

Water and black tea, that's all my husband drinks. No milk, no juices, no coke, just water and tea.

I've completely lost a taste for any sugary sodas. I don't even really like diet sodas, either. I do like iced tea with lemon or lime, no sugar.

Read labels or research potassium on web.
cranberry juice,PowerAde(not Gatorade)any cola has only 40 mg phosphorus but most people won't stop at 8oz. Lemonade orange soda, grape soda. Remember sweet drinks will only increase your thirst.
Look for True Lemon powder at you grocery. A couple packets in a bottle of water is so refreshing. Can't find it? Look on webTruelemon.com

I was told that Gatorade was not Ok, but I was on hemo and not PD. Beyond the issue of kidney disease, I try to limit my sugar, my caffeine, and I avoid artificial sweeteners (if I were diabetic, that would be different no doubt). I do love water anyway so that's easy for me but I also love low sodium soda water with fresh lime juice. I also like it with a touch of cranberry juice but lime is my fave. On dialysis that was a lifesaver because a little went a long way. It's now also my husband's drink of choice...if only he'd soak those glasses rather than let them dry out with lime bits stuck on the inside.
Cola and other sugary sodas have been linked to osteoporosis and that's already an issue for us. Not to mention the impact on teeth, weight gain, diabetes etc etc.

If I drink pop it's just a bit of lemon lime kind. In fact, pop tastes much different to me since I've been on d. Not sure why. I also drink tea and of course water. Also apple juice and white grape juice. I drink gatorade too, but from this post, guess I should stop. Never was a milk fan anyways.

Since your trying to get away from pop/soda, then Ginger Ale reg or diet, was one of my suggestions. Forgot if mentioned coffee. What about Snapple Drinks, Tea and Juice Cocktail drinks (not sure of potassium content), those all fruit blend drinks (but expensive at over $3.00 for 16 oz), and as mentioned Crystal Light or similar type water flavor additives.
Howver, what do you have a crave for which is ok to drink?
As for Gatorade, even after transplant I have to watch drinking that due to the higher potassium content. That stuff helped with fluid intake till my potaaium stayed in the higher range.
I hope you find something that suits you paul.karen.

Since I've stopped taking steroids I can drink more - not putting weight on all the time.
I do drink bad stuff - a weak instant coffee made with milk in the morning, sometimes half a cup of very weak chocolate drink.
But I have a cup of tea in the afternoon and odd half cups/glasses of orange squash.
And neat whisky in the evening
and
When I started dialysis the liquid restriction was very hard. Now I've got used to it. I would never have believed it possible, but it seems that a lot of drinking is nothing much more than a habit.

In my reply I should have posted these two links. I find them invaluable in choosing food and drinks.

Someone mentioned grape soda. I don't know about this but I saw a can of Fanta Grape the other day (in an shop that sells imported sodas from the US - I bought an A&W
) and saw the ingredients had potassium !
Tea is better than coffee - coffe contains potassium. Still I have a long mac every morning at work and well I'm OK. I take a binder with it for the phos in the milk.
shots of vodka help
no problem with those!

I would imagine that an occasional shot of vodka or gin or bourbon wouldn't hurt. These alcoholic drinks contain almost no sodium, potassium or phosphorus. And alcohol is a diuretic, so it might actually help your body get rid of some excess fluid.
Which means you could have a martini with your dinner.
