As others have posted, the start of 2010 is pretty naff, on my front it's the start of dialysis...and whilst on dialysis this morning, my mother was in another ward, somewhere in this hospital...unknown to me...and she passed away, just as I left the hospital grounds.
I get a phone call as I walk through the front door from one of her friends, to tell me.....talk about sledgehammer blow. Then I get my elder brother on the phone, from my dialysis unit, missed him by 30mins, as he came to look for me.
So all in all.....2010 aint on my list of good years and this is only the first month  :o

Getting the heck out of town.

Phil, I am so sorry.  I'm thinking about you.  What an awful experience to find out that way.

Oops.  I just remember I posted a rather rude comment to you earlier (joke, joke, joke).  I would  still have posted it had I known but I would have waited a little while.

Be good to yourself through all of this.  It is a stressful situation so just avoid as much of the stress as humanly possible.  My sincere sympathies.  Dan

Xbandito, I am so sorry to hear about your mum and not to know that she was in the same hospital at the time you were there must have been awful for you, what a shock. When my dad died I missed getting to the hospital on time by about 15 min. Its funny that you want to say such a lot to them and then they are gone and you have missed that chance. I make sure now that the people I love are told "I love you" often. Your year has not started out good, I will be thinking about you and your family. I send loads of hugs.

Thanks Guys an Gals, we have known it would be coming, for she has been ill for a few years, two years ago, the Docs did not know what was wrong, first they told us it was lung and bone cancer...then two days later, no its not its osteoarthritis and a scar from Pneumonia. Since they she has been in and out of hospital.
The hard part is, no one phoned us to tell us that she was going into hospital, not even the hospital and they have my number as main contact.
Cannot have a go at my brother, as he only got there for the last ten minutes and by the time he got to the unit, I would have been just down the road.
Ah well, somehow me thinks it's going to be one big send off, for she was a Scottish county dance teacher for 35 years, so I expect there will be loads of them turning up.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother.

I remember how big a blow it was when I lost my own mom, so I can only imagine how you must be feeling.

It will take time to work through all the emotions you're feeling.  Hang in there and be patient.

Sorry to hear about your mum X.  Hopefully 2010 will start to pick up eventually. *hugs*

(Apologies ... I've only just read this thread so I realise the condolances are a tad belated.)
