Positive Thoughts equal Positive Energy

« on: January 14, 2010, 09:44:35 AM »

Maybe it's just me, but lately I've been waking up and seeing objects that disappear after two seconds of opening my eyes.  It's to the point where I will scream thinking something is in my house.  It's not only in my house but when I'm on the machine and I fall to sleep, when I open my eyes, I see all types of objects before it disappears after two seconds. This is something that just started happening since my doctor put me on more than one type of blood pressure pills.   I've never experienced anything like this when I was taking one blood pressure pills.

However, I don't like taking three different types of pills but it keeps my blood pressure normal as I have a really bad case of high blood pressure.  That is the reason why my kidneys function weak.  It can be very scary as I'm not sure why I'm seeing these things.    Does anyone else experience this?  >:(  I've told the doctor's assistant and he stated that it can be a side effect from the blood pressure pills.   I am on three different types of pills.   How many blood pressure pills are you on?

This sounds scary to say the least.  Sometimes i like a good hallucination but i am not sure i would want them from taking my bloodpressure pills.
If it is making you that jumpy in your own house i would suggest you change to a different pill.  Lord knows there are many to choose from.

I take two pills for BP.  But have no side effects i can speak off.

Hope you get it sorted out for your own sanity.  Good Luck

What's past is prologue

I have had this problem before, don't think it was related to any specific drug for me. I am highly arachnaphobic (highly- please everyone respect this) and used to wake up seeing giant bugs crawling up the walls. They literally would dissolve in front of me. A roommate was around once when I woke up and I pointed at the wall and shouted "kill it, kill it" which confused him. I have read, but I'm sorry I don't remember where, that these do not count as hallucinations. (yea!) I think they might fall into the parasomnia arena - which includes sleepwalking, night terrors, even restless leg. My guess is one of your meds is messing up your sleep brainwaves. The problem went away for me. I guess you need to decide if the problem is annoying enough to go through a med switch.

Oh, and I take a low dose of Inderal, but it is more to control headaches and anxiety than blood pressure. Good luck.

I used to be on 2 bp meds at the same time as well. Had lots of side affects but they were less if I spread them. I.e  1 kind in the morning 1 before sleeping. Maybe it helps. good luck

I know the feeling.  More than once I've awakened in the middle of the night and did not recognize anything in my room.  A few nights ago I awoke positively convinced that a spider the size of a person's head was descending from my ceiling fan.  I figure it has something to do with my Clonidine, which has been known to produce very vivid dreams.  As for me, I'm on four BP meds.

Only ever had that after the fistula revision, they gave me these really strong pain killers (2nd operation on the same spot in 7 days, so it really hurt). I was having a conversation at 2am with my 7 year old son when i realised...... I was in hospital and he was at home (30 mins away) asleep in bed.

So i'm not sure whats causing yours but i sympathise with you. Is it like a full hallucination or like floating spots across your eyes that disorientate you for a moment?

I am sorry that is happening.  I was going to ask the same thing jennyc did, full blown hallucinations or spots that move when your eyes move.

jen, was it it dilauded?  I saw giant spiders with that one, and swore my nurse was trying to kill me - poor woman!  When it finally wore off, I was in restraints.  My sister said I was yelling something about giant rabid raccoons, too.  Then they hooked up one of the on-demand pain med pumps, and gave me the button.  The darn thing was filled with more dilauded, and they kept asking why I wasn't using it.  The pain was easier to deal with than the freakin' big spiders!

This makes sense.  I have to take potassium pills just to stay at the bottom level.

Malibu, spots that move when your eyes move may be "floaters."  It's something that happens to our eyes as we age.

i don't know what it was, some little pink and brown capsule, trumidol, tramadol, truedon????? i was already out of it by the time she said its name (also different meds are called different things in every country... stupid really). But i think it started with a t. I didn't get agro, just really placid and freaky. couldn't sleep well with it cause it was like i was in a sureal world

It's more like something is floating in front of me.  Like little circles in red or black; however, it disappears after a few seconds.   Maybe it's because I'm getting old.

Thanks everyone!!!   :P
