Well i spent an hour on the phone yesterday to my therapist , i thought she was the best person to turn too. I explained all that had happened , what that nurse said , what my family (aunty) said and how it had made me feel. I must admit the more i have thought about it the more my feelings have changed and im now full of anger (she said she could hear that in my voice) But i thought why the hell should i let that nurse say things like that to me ? ruin my time off and mostly, diagnose me ! Anyway the upshot is i requested that the nurse does not come near me (at the very least) but was told i may not have that luxury ! The therapist suggested resolving the matter would be a better option and i said the only way that would happen is if that nurse kept her mouth firmly shut ! The therapist is going to have a chat with the sister this morning ..so lets see what i face this afternoon!!

Request a witness always be present when the nurse is there or you will have to get a restraining order. Say you feel your life is being threatened by her.
In the United States that could land her fat ass in jail.

Sadly I agree that you can't request to not have her come near you - if she's on shift and the only available staff member to assist you (or even more stupidly, assigned to look after you) then you really DO have no choice. I definitely support trying to resolve the situation. I think though this is very hard to do in the stressful environment of dialysis specially when KS is feeling horrible and the nurse insensitive... not a situation to try and work on such things.
Hoping something good can come of your talk with the therapist.

Have you tried turning the tables on her and saying something especially nice about her? Her hair, manicure, anything. Guess her smile is not an option (lol) but you can find something. I find that throws people off at first but then often they make a switcheroo and they want to be your friend. Wouldn't cost much to try it.

I'm with Dan, I once worked wit a woman who was SUCH a cow. I don't know what she had against me, but she was areal snob and I think I came from the wrong side of the tracks as it were, Anyway, I decided I would just be nice to her, no matter how revolting she was to me. Boy it worked. She didn't know what to do then. It was really funny watching her squirm I have to say. It didn't really change much cos hse was never that nice, but boy it entertained me!!!

Kill them with kindness is a great strategy.
I have to work with parents who I don't always hold in very high regard, BUT, if we are butting heads, it doesn't help the situation for anyone. I know I may not be able to change the way they act, but I sure can do something about the way I act.
Those obnoxious folks are sometimes so unused to having someone shower them with pleasantries, that they are completely flummoxed. I get a secret pleasure out of that!
I do it with sour clerks, too. I joke with them and smile. It's like a challenge to see if I can get them to crack a smile.
You could make it your challenge to see if you can get the nurse to be nice to you. I LOVE a challenge.

When someone get rude with me, I always say very nicely......boy, someone must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed today. That usually shuts them up!

Reminds me of a famous MLK quote which I'm sure most of you have already heard of:
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies
hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction....The chain reaction
of evil--hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars--must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of
annihilation."
Martin Luther King, Jr., Strength To Love, 1963

"The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that ain't so." - Mark Twain
