Well got my old friend out yesterday ! All went great ! The surgeon and his assistant were fantastic with me ! Plenty of cock ups in the morning , like no bed and being moved around 3 wards in the morning before i got settled onto a bed ! Got prepped , went down , back to the horrible room they put my tunnel line in , so that wasnt a good start (bad memories). I did my usual and started shaking (cant help it!) and the surgeon actually held my hand ! He was brill, very nice , then they started cracking jokes and had me laughing  :rofl;. He did try to just pull it out !!! no local ! but it wouldnt come . So then he gave me local ..ouch ! Anyway a bit of gawd knows what ? a bit more local , cause it was painfull and then all done !!! I was still waiting , i didnt realise he had finished ! He showed me what had been my best friend for 5 yrs and said it wasnt like any Tenchof he had seen before ! (trust me !) I had it put in in Scotland and it was only half the length  (he did joke ..where was the other half !) but he said no its all there and no second cuff on it ! I must admit i didnt sleep last night , im very sore today and it has bled quite a lot (because of heparin on hemo ) but i have no stitches , he likes to use a 'wonder' dressing , i cant remember it name now. Everything was done through my exit site , so who cares, im happy  :cheer: Just very sore !

Great news that it's all over KS.... I was wondering how it went...

Today will probably be your most painful day... God excuse to stay at home and rest up as much as possible...

Onward and upward, eh!...

Good, sounds like every thing went as usual for you That is another thing done and dusted. I bet you are sore to-day, are you going to hemo this afternoon? I have to smile because when you are on hemo nothing has to get in the way. Operation one day, hemo the next, you do not get a break do you. You take care and rest as much as you can.

Yeah i am bloody sore , i cant sit comfy , walking hurts and im bleeding quite a bit ! Yes i 've checked in with them to make sure all is ok , its because of the heparin. Its like when i move i seem to set it off , but hey , dogs to be seen to , meals to be made (all though im just nuking stuff today) but even a brew requires movement !
Yeah ive got dialysis tomorrow , i havent a clue how im going to get through it tho'? There is no way i can sit/recline on one of those beds for four hours , i find its comfiest if i actually lean forward, you can imagine how well that will go down at dialysis , to make matters worse its the bitch sister from hell on duty ! Even the staff dont like her , power mad isnt the word ! Argumentative cow is !  :rofl; Anyway im going to try and muddle through and if anyone of the staffs says ..i know, i know ..well ..........!!! one of us for sure will end up in A &E !

Kickstart,
 I am not trying to sound stupid here. I have been trying to following your PD story here. But I thought I read before that you didnt need your cathater taken out. WHat happened?! You spent time in the hospital for no apparent reason.
Did you have the infection so bad that you had to have it taken out. WHy did they send  you home for, for you to go back and still get it taken out.

Ah sorry ! Right i did pd for nearly 5 yrs then it stopped working so i got put on hemo. I still had my pd cath in as i had no time to prep for hemo. A couple of weeks ago i had a bit of tummy ache and mentioned it at hemo , They immediately gave me iv antibiotics and packed me off to the other hospital where our dialysis doctors are. The doc there was awful with me , said i would die if i didnt get my pd cath out asap , said i had peritonitis ! Although i never had any symptoms ! Went in a 7 am , nil by mouth , did 4 hrs of hemo , then there was no bed for me, spent from 12 dinner till 6pm walking the corridors with all my bags , couldnt eat , couldnt drink. They found me a bed and it was 10.30pm at night when the surgeon came to see me. He said there was absolutely nothing wrong with me, never mind life or death and wait till he got hold of the doctor that had said all this to me ! Arrived home after midnight , exhausted. Yesterdays removal of tenchof was 'normal procedure' as it had to come out at some point. Ive cut a lot of the story out , but you get the jist ?  :2thumbsup;

Another step forward KS.  It must be strange to have the tube out - a new part of the journey etc.  Glad that's done and you're OK.

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

Yea!!  So glad you are done with that, but sorry you are so sore.  Take it easy and rest.   Hope things continue to get better----you have certainly been thru the "worse".     :cuddle;
