I think my daughter has h1n1

My daughter and hubby went on Tuesday to get the nose mist vaccine.  On Wedensday she got sent home from school with a fever and she has been sick ever since.  I don't know if she just has a mild case from the vaccine or she was getting sick and it's just bad timing.  I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow and I have been walking around the house with a surgical mask on.  I feel like an idiot, but I really don't want to get sick.

I would have gotten vaccinated too, but they didn't have the injectable vaccine for h1n1.  I don't go till the 21st.  So a mask at home for the next 10 days.

Bette, my transplant center sent me a letter stating that we should treat any flu as if it were H1N1 until you could get to the doctor.  I started with a fever of 102 last week and was sick for five days.  My husband was out of town and I told my daughter to stay with her sister for a few days.  When I felt better, I wiped all the surfaces with lyson.  Crossing fingers no one else has shown any signs.  Wearing the mask it probably a good idea.   I hope your daughter feels better quick.  Keep giving her fluids and tylenol and lots of rest.  Let us know how she does. And take care of you

I'm going out for lysol tomorrow.  I've been making her use hand sanitizer frequently, took the hand towels out of the bathroom and replaced them with paper towels, and cleaned all the doornobs.

Bette, the exact same thing happened to us in late October. My husband and the boys went to get the FluMist, and my younger son (age 3) was sent home from preschool with a low fever and general spaciness a few days later.

Shortly after, my husband and I both came down with whatever it was - a horrible cough, low fever, and a splitting migraine. I had already had my seasonal injection, but no H1N1, kids and husband were in the opposite situation. The three of us went to the GP that week, and he said he highly doubted it was H1N1. He did, however, give me Tamiflu. Tamiflu saved my life!!! (OK, not literally) I went from just wanting someone to put me out of my misery on Thursday, to feeling better than ever on the Friday. My husband rebounded similarly after taking Tamiflu. My son was not prescribed any, and by Friday night we were so worried about him that we paged the doctor and asked if we could just dissolve a spare Tamiflu capsule in sugar water and give it to our son, and he said fine. We did that for five days, but he was much better by the next day.

Incidentally, the seven-year-old sailed through unscathed, and he shares everything with his brother (even a room).

So my point is: Tamiflu. I can't recommend it enough.
