I started back to school yesterday (my students come next week), and we have a new principal at my school.  He's rather young (33) to be the head principal at the biggest school in our county, and this is his first lead principalship.

We have Freshman Orientation tonight from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and Open House (for sophomores, juniors, and seniors) tomorrow night from 6 - 8 p.m.  If I had to work all day (until 4) and then go to both of these functions, Marvin and I could not have done his home hemo treatments until late in the night.  This morning, when I approached my prinicpal with my situation (just met him yesterday), he said, "Go home and take care of your husband."  I said, "My room is ready, my hand-outs are run off, and I'm fully prepared for my babies to come in tonight."  And he said, "That doesn't even matter.  You make sure your husband has his treatment and it's not late in the night.  If he's doing okay and you can make it back for Freshman Orientation tonight and Open House tomorrow night, that's good.  If not, I understand.  Family comes first."

It's so nice to have a principal who understands my situation and is willing to work with me (I have had other principals who didn't care and didn't help me work out something to do everything I need to do at school and at home).  Also, I don't know if he knows it or not, but I will work harder for him because he works with me.

How refreshing to read of someone who understands that life does not revolve around work, that young man sounds fine.

My principal says:

Take care of:
You first
Family second
Work third.

I like him!

What's Petey doing home in the middle of the afternoon again -- two days in a row?  My principal sent me home around 11 today with instructions to make sure Marvin got his treatment in and to only come back to school for Open House tonight if Marvin was okay after treatment.

Have mercy!  If I were 15 years younger, 50 pounds lighter, and not married, I might have to chase that principal around!  :rofl;  :rofl;  Seriously, I really do like him and am impressed with the way he treats his staff.  Apparently, he's pretty smart -- because a happy employee is a hard-working employee!
