Indentation in graft?
«
on:

Has anyone gotten an indentation in their graft before? I have one now and was wondering what issues might arise in relation to it. It's a loop graft and the indentation is on the arterial side. I also have a small aneurysm on the venous side. I think both may have appeared around the same time.

Hey paddbear. I also have a loop graft and I have a numerous amount of indentations in the venous side of my graft. Is it a spot that you have not used yet to cannulate? I also have an aneurysm on the venous side and it from needling in the same spot too much. If the graft has not fully attached to the muscles and tissues the indentation is just where it hasn't fused with the tissue as much as the rest of the graft. According to my neph - nothing to worry about. The indentations make it hard for me to needle because you really have to dig to get the needle down deep enough to hit blood. The arterial side of my graft is great - the venous side is a pain in the butt. Really crooked and indents everywhere. The arterial is nice and straight and user friendly. Just get your tech to move the needling away from where your aneurysm is to give it time to correct itself. It will if you stop needling in that spot for a while. x

I have a nice large loop and I make sure they always ladder the needle sites, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Thanks for the info though! That makes me feel better.

My graft was re-routed twice because of aneurysms and this last one still seems to be getting one. Also, this present area is very painful all through the session. I had surgery last week to correct this, but my last sessions were still painful, although slightly alleviated.
