Does anyone know about stemcell-treatment?

Does anyone know about stemcell-treatment?
In China they have a treatment called “stemcell infusions”,
and I believe in the USA it is called “stemcell transplantation”.
I am not sure, but I think this treatment with stemcells is still in the research-stage.
Is it given to people whose organs are being attacked and I am wondering
if anyone has heard of its effect on people with renal failure?

Embryonic stem cell treatment has produced a lot of tumors in patients.

Adult stem cell treatments are getting a few results for simple cells.  I do not know of any studies that have shown large cellular structures being rebuilt through stem  cell treatments.

I should be getting a stem cell transplant as a treatment for my multiple myeloma.  I'm not though, because my oncologist is not happy with the possible side effects of having it.  In a normal person the % likelyhood of not surviving a stem cell tx is under 1%, in renal patients it's up between 15 - 20%.  He doesn't want to take that risk, as there are other drugs that will deal with the cancer - more slowly though.  Does that help?  Your specialist should be able to answer any questions you have.

Thank you very much for your replies to my question about stemcell-treatment.
It seems that this is still in the early stages of research and there does not
seem to be a clear picture of treatment and successful outcome
which would lead it to being a common safe treatment.
Thanks again for bringing information to this new and complex treatment option.
