Hi Guys,
I hope all is well. I started dialysis in 07'. I noticed since then I lost a lot of weight in all the wrong places. I also have dark circles underneath my eyes. I looked like I aged 10 years. Anyone have an suggestions on how to gain weight back but let it be all muscle and any skin treatment I can use to look more alive and not like a zombie?? Thanks guys!

I exercise (Zumba classes three times a week) and lift weights. It seems to be helping my muscle tone. I know not everyone has the energy to do so but I have found it very helpful with stress relief and sleep quality.

Ask the dietitian about supplemental drinks/shakes.  Personally, I think Boost tastes great!

Also, get plenty of rest (for the dark circles) and invest in some good body lotion.

I take a protein powder to try to add weight, boost my albumin levels.  Also, if exercise is out of the question (like it is for many of us) think about getting a massage or something like that.  It can help your body tone as well as make you feel good.  Not cheap of course, but nothing's easy eh?

Change to PD  :rofl; I have put on lots of weight (no not fluid) its the calories in the pd solution!!! Dry skin is also a problem so plenty of cream ! I think the dark circles are just the finishing touch ! (make-up?)

Home hemo did the trick for my Marvin!  He nows feels so good and his appetite has returned (too much -- he put on 60 pounds since we started home hemo two years ago -- he's now having to watch his weight and has dropped about 10 pounds of that).  His "color" in his face is good.  He looks great.

Comments Marvin heard from our friends/family when he was in-center hemo:
"You look tired."
"Do you need to sit down?"
"Have you lost more weight?"
"Rough treatment today, huh?"

Comments Marvin now hears:
"You don't even look sick!"
"What have you been eating?"
"Did you get a transplant and not tell us?"
"I haven't seen you looking so healthy in years."
