My nutritionist at D has made up a sample 2 week meal plan, with a few recipes. I have been having trouble with reaching my dry weight and so I am putting myself on a bit of a diet! I am gonna try to give up soda as well. wish me luck! :P

Hi, Karen!

Good luck on the diet - they say soda is
the worst thing to drink (the real kind)
as far as putting on weight.

I bet if you stop drinking it you will see a
difference rite away!  :waving;

First went to diet but finaly just stopped them all.

Crystal light has alot fo flavors and koolaid now comes in sugarfree as well.
One little tube about 2 tablespoons makes two quarts of whichever you like.  And it taste good.  or i just got use to it.

I have a "real" Coke maybe once or twice a week.  And usually I can't even finish it.  I used to drink a lot of soda a day years ago.  It was in late 2007 that my Neph said to severely cut back or preferrably stop.  I stopped for a long while and then would have one every once in a while.  They are super sweet now.  I'm not a fan of diet soda, but I do love Pink Lemonage Crystla Lite.  That's been my drink of choise (that and tea) post transplant.

Real Coke is a necessity with some foods like burgers and pizza (for me, anyway).  But I don't eat pizza that often and I get tea now with my burgers.

Sworn Pepsiholic here!  For years...and I do mean years....like age 16 to age 30 I had to have a six pack a day or I was insane.  I would drink it hot, room temperature or half frozen...HAD to have it.  Til one day I got this new neph and she said...and I quote....."That shit is killing you!"  No one had ever told me before that it was bad for my lone left kidney.  DUH!

I put myself thru a stringent rehab...yikes the headaches!  Can't give it up completely...tougher than giving up the cigarettes!  Now I allow myself one 16 oz, diet, caffeine free pepsi every three or four days.

Gonna try Crystal Lite....I LOVE lemonade!

The way I lost my 50 plus pounds (in spite of doing PD and absorbing all that dextrose), was to ride my stationary bike while watching TV.  Ten minutes at a time, every two hours, and you've bicycled 60-80 minutes a day.

I would cut the soda and leave everything else as it is. I used to drink soda by the caseload and when I switched to diet soda I lost 40lbs.

Would you possibly want to share your meal plan?

Today is four weeks on PD for me and I guess I've gained a few pounds but bigger still...is my stomach!  I literally look pregnant and it is firm so it even feels like a baby!  Oh. my. goodness.

I think you're very wise Karen to lose the few extra pounds you have now rather than letting weight creep up on you slowly year after year.  It's also best to do it slowly and safely instead of any kind of crash diet or, heaven forbid, those "miracle" formulas they advertise on TV all the time.  Good luck with the program.
