Do leg cramps get worse w/CKD.

I was wondering if leg cramps get worse when your kidneys start getting worse?  I'm stage 4 CKD GFR-20 and it seems for the last 2 months I have had leg cramps about 4-6 times a week.  A lot of times multiple times each night.  The best way to describe it is like an earthquake bunch of little tremors then I get the big one and then tremors again.  I've been taking that Hylands leg cramp medicine but it don't work.  Thanks in advance for any input.

I had leg cramps that would take me straight up out of bed.  Holy cow!   Have your potassium levels checked.

plenty  of  fluid  on  board, when  you  try  and  take  it  off, hurties

Speak to your doctor and have your bloodwork checked carefully.  Potassium could be the culprit.

I have the cramping foot and tingly legs lately. I'll make sure to check the potassium at next blood draw and in the mean time I'll try eating less potassium rich foods. Good advice as always and thanks for bringing the subject up.

I don't have the muscle cramps yet, but I do have the muscle spasms. At random times, an arm, hand, finger or leg will jerk all of a sudden. It happens numerous times a day. The worse my function gets, the more they occur. I look like such a klutz when I suddenly drop things or send them flying!

When I first started dialysis I would get cramps that would send me through the roof. Lately though I have been blessed and not had to suffer those nasty nasty things. As far as the shakes, they are worse now then when I was drinking. Coffe requires two hands...Boxman

Are you taking a diuretic?  Your dose my be to high.  If I pee to much one day, I crap really bad like that.  Have it checked out.  My problem is the filter in my kidney's let to much out. So I often bottom out my electrolytes, wich include my  potassium.
