shaking?

I had a quick question, does anyone else have shaking/trembling in their hands?  When I went into the hospital in November, my hands were shaking uncontrolably, but they said it was because my creatine was way too high (31!!) and by the time I left 10 days later it had ceased.  However, I've noticed in the last 2 weeks it has started again (just now I stopped typing and put my hand straight out, and my fingers were twitching).  It has gotten bad enough that my mom, boyfriend, and even the nurse at dialysis have noticed.  Picking up small things is an amusment act for those around me.
What could this be?  My mom thinks it could be side effects to meds, but I've been on Labetalol, Norvasc, and Phoslo for 8 months now and Sensipar for 2!  It seems to me to have been too long for that.

My neph checks my hands every visit.  I've had hand tremors since I was diagnosed with kidney disease. He tells me it is all related.  Some days are worse than others.  My handwriting is horrible now.  I notice it the most when I am holding a fork or spoon. You should see me eat soup!!

Jess, I don't have tremors but my neph always has me extend my arms and he checks for shaking too.  Be sure to ask your doc if your shaking is related to meds or to kidney disease.  My guess is that it's getting worse as you become more uremic.

I have had this too. Very frustrating.
I think it's related to uremic neuropathy due to poor kidney function. Some days are better than others.
I hope yours gets better soon.

Thanks for the responses..I talked to the nephrologist at my dialysis center yesterday and he says it's not from dialysis (well I knew that) but he thought maybe my meds were causing the tremors.  He said he would look at my labs this week because my BUN and creatine aren't too high.  He asked me if I had seen a neurologist for the shaking in the hospital.  However, as you guys and the internet says, shaking is a symptom of ESRD.  I'm thinking about calling my reg. neph.  I have surgery rotation in a few months at school and don't want to be a shaking anesthetist or assistant!

My husband had shaking hands also, but it lessened when he began in center dialysis and is completely gone since we are on home dialysis.

It may mean your not getting sufficient dialysis.

Hi Again Jess.
Yep,  sometimes my hands shake like crazy.  other times they are pretty steady. Considering all the other side effects to dialysis, this one is easy to deal with.
If someone asked why your hands are shaking just tell them your exercising because you doing want big wrists. or your hands only shake when you are thinking about sex.
Or that your practicing for a Michael J.Fox puppet show. (kind of mean)

Mine have started that on occasion, too.  I see it more when I'm tired.  If your doc comes up with any bright answers, let us know!

My neph always checked my hands for tremors, too, but I never had them.

Now that I'm on the Prograf the transplant neph said that if the Prograf level is too high then I might get tremors in my hands like Parkinsons.  I notice that when I'm holding a book or something my thumb shakes a little, but that's about it.  Also, it was my 1st week home after transplant and one day I felt weird and then my lips felt like they were vibrating.  I told the doctor and he said "That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me."   AH!  Pervert!  He said not to tell his wife about the vibrating lips or she'd want them too!!!!       That has since gone away (thank goodness).

Generally I am OK.  I can shake like a chihuahua if my blood sugar is low, though.
