Those sound yummy.  This is what I'm making today.

Walnut Snowballs

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups finely chopped walnuts (I use the processor so the pieces are really small)
Powdered sugar

Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Stir together flour and salt and alternate adding portions of the flour and nuts, blending well after each addition.  Roll into 1 inch balls and place on baking sheet.  Bake at 325 for 30 minutes.  They should not be browned.  Cool for 5-10 minutes and roll in powdered sugar while still warm.  When cooled, store in an airtight container.

My mom made these every Christmas while I was growing up. She says she always knew when we had been into the cookies by the trails of powdered sugar all over the kitchen!
